5 D-FW Private Equity Firms among World’s Largest

Five of the world’s largest private equity firms call Dallas-Fort Worth home, according to a new survey by PEI Media, a financial media business focused on global private equity.  The firms are ranked by capital raised in the past five years. TPG Capital, based in Fort Worth, ranks fourth on the list, with $45 billion raised in the past five years. TPG Capital ranked first in PEI Media’s 2009 tally.

Other North Texas firms on the list include:

No. 40, NGP Energy Capital Management, $7.52 billion raised
No. 41, Lone Star Funds, $7.5 billion raised
No. 153, Energy Spectrum Partners, $1.96 billion raised
No. 245, Brazos Private Equity Partners, $1.1 billion raised

In addition to North Texas firms, five other Texas firms made the list. They are:

No. 62 , Quantum Energy Partners in Houston, $5 billion raised
No. 69, EnCap Investments in Houston, $4.8 billion raised
No. 176, EnterVest Management Partners, $1.57 billion raised
No. 200, Austin Ventures, $1.43 billion raised
No. 289, Quintana Capital, $900 million raised

Six of the 10 Texas firms focus specifically on the oil and gas industry. (4/28/10)
