Shared workspace provider WeWork is bumping up its game in Plano with a second major location.The New York-based co-working company is renting another 60,000 square feet of space near the northeast corner of Legacy Drive and the Dallas North Tollway. The new office will be across the tollway from Legacy West, where WeWork has already doubled its presence.WeWork's second Plano location will be in the second floor of a retail building in the Shops at Legacy. It also will have private offices with room for up to 268 members and space for events."Opening in Summer 2018, WeWork 7300 Dallas Parkway will accommodate a community of 1,150 members," spokeswoman Debbee Hancock said in an email.WeWork opened its first Plano office last year in the Legacy West Urban Village. It then doubled the size of the operation to 61,000 square feet due to higher-than-expected demand."Their membership leasing has gone so well, far faster than they projected, which resulted in this rapid expansion," said Legacy West developer Fehmi Karahan.WeWork also has locations in downtown Dallas and Uptown and is planning a spot in Fort Worth. In 2017, the firm opened 90 locations worldwide, bringing the total number of WeWork sites to 200, Hancock said."Our global membership grew from 80,000 members in 2016 to more than 175,000 members," she said.WeWork's southern headquarters is in the Thanksgiving Tower in downtown Dallas.
