NTT DATA Leases Additional 232,000 Square Feet

A global tech giant continues to stake its roots in Plano after announcing it would lease 200,000 square feet of office space at the former J.C. Penney headquarters.


In one of the largest leasing agreements of the year, NTT Data scooped up the office space at the Campus at Legacy West, where J.C. Penney still offices. NTT Data will lease the space from Dreien Opportunity Partners—the commercial realty company that purchased the J.C. Penney building earlier this year.


NTT Data plans to move out of its Plano Parkway office in phases, with all employees relocated to the new Legacy West location by April 2018, a company spokesperson told Community Impact Newspaper in an email.


The move to the Campus at Legacy West comes nearly three months after developers at the 14-story One Legacy West building announced NTT Data would lease an extra floor. The addition to NTT Data’s leasing agreement at One Legacy West brought its total square footage to over 150,000—more than half of the building’s total space.


“The Legacy West development reflects the world-class business climate and quality of life in Plano, and One Legacy West will be a showcase for our company,” NTT Data CEO John McCain said in a statement. “We’re excited about moving into this vibrant new environment and making it the headquarters for our North American business operations.”


NTT Data moved its headquarters from Boston, Massachusetts, to Plano in 2013, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper. The IT company completed an acquisition of Dell Services and its respective Plano campuses at the end of 2016.

The new leasing agreement at the Campus at Legacy West is not the only Plano-related project on Dreien Opportunity Partner’s plate. In an ambitious move, the company announced it intends to invest between $1 billion and $1.6 billion in revitalizing Plano’s ailing Collin Creek Mall.
