Plano's All-Abilities Pool is First in US

When renovations to Oak Point Recreation Center’s swimming area are complete, the City of Plano will be the first municipality in the country to feature a dual-entry wave pool. Slated to be complete in spring 2022, a new-and-improved aquatic facility will be open for next year’s Memorial Day weekend celebration.

In addition to the dual-entry wave pool, features of the new recreation area include a splash pad, elevated play structure, family leisure pool, shade structures, rentable cabanas and a concessions area. The wave pool will have zero-depth entry at both ends, and a maximum depth of 42 inches, making the swimming pool safer for new swimmers and small children. The entire facility is designed to be accessible to patrons of all ages and abilities, including wheelchair users.
