Plano's booming Legacy business park is getting another office project.
San Antonio-based insurer and financial services firm USAA is expanding its high-tech campus located east of the Dallas North Tollway on Legacy Drive.
USAA — which serves members of the military and their families — already has about 400 people working in the two-building complex it owns at 5601 Legacy Drive.
Now the company has filed plans with the city for an additional 4-story building with more than 150,000 square feet, to be constructed adjacent to the existing offices.
The new office building will be joined by a 719-space parking garage, according to the city plans.
Developer Cawley Partners has been working with USAA Real Estate on the project.
USAA representatives said they were unable yet to provide details about the construction schedule and use for the building.
USAA bought the former AT&T campus in Legacy business park in 2013. The company said the 255,000-square-foot campus at Legacy and Parkwood would eventually house 700 workers.
Both Plano and the state of Texas agreed to provide millions of dollars to USAA to establish the new IT campus in Legacy. But USAA chose to terminate those incentives 12 months into the agreement and paid back what they had received.
Legacy business park is one of Texas' fastest-growing employment centers.
The $3 billion Legacy West development on the west side of the tollway has new offices for Toyota, FedEx Office, Liberty Mutual Insurance and JPMorgan Chase that will house more than 20,000 workers.
