Both Collin and Denton Counties’ populations have nearly tripled over the last 20 years, and are expected to continue growing well into the future, according to projections from the Texas Data Center. Collin County’s population has grown over 59% since 2000. With a population of 782,341, Collin County ranks seventh among the state’s most populous counties.
Dallas County has long been the business and population center of North Texas, however, the 2010 census numbers show that the housing and business markets have shifted to the north according to Dr. Lloyd Potter, Texas state demographer. “With the dramatic growth already occurring in Denton and Collin counties, they’re poised to become the new urban centers for the region,” he said.
